Making tough decisions easier

At Carolina Cipher, we have talked with many business executives about their companies and their business management software needs. Each of these executives has made decisions regarding whether to invest in a new information system at all, and if so which software to choose out of many possibilities.

It is a complex decision whose importance cannot be overstated. Bad decisions are easy but will become very costly. Good decisions require more effort but will repay the investment many times over.  Some considerations to think about include:

  • Have you taken a good look at both the company who has created the software and the company who will help you implement it? You need to be comfortable with both. Look for strength, stability and longevity.
  • Have you educated yourself regarding the many ways that today's business management software can become the key to making your company great?
  • Have you done a careful needs analysis of what business management software tools your employees and your executives need to do their jobs better and more productively?
  • Avoid the trap of purchasing software that is so limiting that you will suffer through perhaps years of inadequacy only to end up replacing it with yet another conversion to something better.
